ISM NEWS: Licensing Act Clarification
10 November 2005

In the ‘Letters’ section of November’s Music Journal, an editorial note on the Licensing Act, following a letter from Geoffrey Hanson, may have caused some confusion. We are pleased to make clear that the performance of music in a church does not require a licence unless alcohol or late night refreshments are provided. Entertainment in a church hall does require a licence, but there is no fee for obtaining such licences. MJ apologises for any uncertainty which may have been caused by the note.
